Just 14 km West of Tangier lies Cape Spartel, the northwestern end of the Atlantic coast of Africa. It is a popular excursion with locals and tourists.

A dramatic drive takes you across the mountain, an exclusive suburb of royal palaces and villas, and on the snowy promontory to Cape Spartel's lighthouse (closed). The southern beaches are clean and quiet outside of the summer season, so you can find your own private cove.
